WowChemE is a start-up company founded in 2018 as a spinoff of BIRAC-BIG and GYTI programs on a technology developed by co-founders at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. The company is primarily dedicated to the discovery and development of renewable and sustainable chemicals from biomass and address stubble burning issues prevalent in the national capital region of India, creating air pollution to an alarming level. Our team comprises of highly professional and experienced members in the field of engineering, catalysis, microbial fermentation, molecular modeling and early-stage commercialization.

The Problem

Every year, India produces about 500 Metric tons (Mt) agricultural residues, most of which is burnt in the open air or disposed of haphazardly leading air pollution to the alarming level. We are committed to increase farmers income and minimize agro-wastes by turning them into high-value chemicals using our technology on integrated bio- and chemocatalysis of biobased feedstocks.

Innovative and environmentally benign technology is developed which may lead to generate employment opportunities among the farmers and rural populations. The technology is directed towards developing a commercially viable integrated fermentation and catalytic process to produce commodity products directly from biomass. A myriad of products proposed in the portfolio of this technology will make an impact on the high-value market opportunities in several chemical industries such as polymers, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, food, and energy.

We are developing green and renewable products from agricultural residues using a unique process based on integrated fermentation and catalysis. Our products offer economical and sustainable alternatives to petroleum-derived commodities. A wide range of high-quality green products as well as cutting-edge technologies in the field of bio-based food-additives, fragrances, alternative fuel, insect-repellent, and pest-control products are our primary goal to develop.
